Workshops

Get a creative fix of Angie Parker Textiles colour, with a range of weaving workshops for beginners and more experienced weavers.

Here are some of the available options:

Weave a cushion workshop 3-hour workshop. (No sewing required)

Jump straight into the fun part of weaving on a 4 shaft table loom. With over 25 years of weave experience, I can guide you through the basics of weaving on a professional loom and help you grow in colour confidence.

With access to a wide range of my colourful yarns, you can let your creativity run wild whilst learning different weave structures, including plain weave and twill. The looms will be threaded up in preparation for this workshop, and the session can be adapted to meet the requirements of each participant. You can get in touch before the workshop to request specific colours, and where possible, I will find a shade that matches.

Once each participant has finished weaving their panel, I transform the woven sample into a simple cushion for you to take home. All in three hours in the spacious and purpose-built Creative Space. (More or less. Sometimes, the session runs over by 15 minutes).

As everyone weaves at a different pace, some might finish before the end of the advertised workshop time. In these instances, I will bring along some of my woven samples and favourite weaving books for you to browse and ask questions. I will try my best to ensure that everyone completes their cushion during the workshop

Unlimited tea, coffee, and biscuits are provided, and the sessions are fun, informal, and friendly.

IMPORTANT. The workshop is a standing activity and involves repeated actions. Those who suffer from lower back pain might experience some discomfort. Seating is available, and taking regular breaks is recommended.
This session will follow government COVID guidelines in a ventilated workshop.

If you can’t book a date that suits you, please get in touch if you’d like to go on the waiting list in case of any last-minute COVID cancellations. Having a waiting list means that I’ve been able to offer transfers if attendees need to isolate. I need as much time as possible to rebook the space to continue doing this.

To ensure that the workshops are priced reasonably for the participants, and viable for my business, they must run at capacity.

Where I can, I will work with you to find a solution to any issues affecting your attendance.

All the workshops are non-refundable in all circumstances; however, every effort will be made to offer transfers.

If you give more than 14 days notice to cancel, your options are as follows:

I will gladly transfer you to another workshop, space permitting, or place you on the waiting list if someone else cancels.

If there are no suitable future dates for you to transfer to I can provide a voucher to be used for a future workshop booking, this will be valid for one year from the date of issue.

If you wish to send someone else in your place, this is fine, but please inform me before the workshop of any changes.

If you give less than 14 days notice to cancel, then your options are as follows:

If you have COVID-19 or are displaying symptoms of COVID-19, I can help to fill your place by contacting people on the waiting list.

You can send someone else in your place, but let me know in advance.

If your place is re-sold, I will then book you onto a new date or place you on the waiting list

If you would like to transfer and the place is not re-sold, I can add you to a last-minute availability waiting list for future workshop dates. If there are still unsold places on the workshop within 24-48 hours until the workshop is due to take place, we will offer you a place at no additional charge. Please note this option is not a guarantee of a space.

If I have to cancel a workshop, you will be given at least 24 hours’ notice and offered a transfer to another date, a voucher to be used at another time, or a full refund. I can not be held liable for any other costs or expenses you may incur in the event of cancellation.

Learn to warp up a multi-shaft tabletop loom

Over 2 days in this purpose-built space, you will learn all the basics for warping up a 4 shaft table loom, under the guidance of weaver and textile designer Angie Parker.

The workshop will cover:

  • Designing and winding a warp.
  • Using a raddle to space your warp
  • Winding the warp onto the back beam with even tension (one and two-person methods)
  • Threading the heddles for plain weave and twill.
  • Sleying the reed
  • Tying on and starting to weave

You must bring a notebook, but all equipment and materials are included in the cost.

The sessions will begin from 10 am until 4.30 pm, with a tea break in the morning and afternoon and a lunch break.

An email will be sent to participants to discuss colour choices for your warp and weft before the workshop. Any concerns about parking and local food options can be sorted out then too.

Please bring a packed lunch. Unlimited tea, coffee, and biscuits are provided, and the sessions are fun, informal, and friendly.

IMPORTANT. The workshop involves some standing and repeated actions. Those who suffer from lower back pain might experience some discomfort. Seating is available, and taking regular breaks is recommended.
